Bob Marley: How Reggae Changed The World

Do not be deterred from seeing this show even if you know nothing about Bob Marley and Reggae, or even if you do, and don’t like it. Duane Forrest, through sheer charm, catchy music and images brings to life not only the story of Reggae and Bob Marley but also the influence this man and his music has had on his own life and sense of self. Along with the exuberance and the music the audience is given an insight into the effects of the slave trade and the challenges of being only one of four coloured students in a high school of over one thousand pupils.

The growth of Reggae coincided with the political changes in Jamaica, and the development of a music industry which has toes tapping, bursts of song and the impossibility of being depressed.

Duane Forrest, born in Canada but whose ancestry is Jamaican has the personality and musicianship to wrap the audience into one enthusiastic cluster. The meshing of story telling and musicianship  is captivating.  It is not surprising that this show, has been successful in so many countries. Now at The Arch,Holden Street Theatres, this is a must-see show.
