Kaleidoscope is an Arts Magazine.  This program is one of the ways that 5mbs links our station to the wider music  community as well as looking further afield, from time to time, at local drama, art and literature. It is an important link to the wider listening audience as we talk with some very interesting people about what interests them most. You can hear it on Wednesday 6.pm or Saturday 11am. In your own time you can access it through Listen on Demand via 5mbs.com.

Program on 9 October at 6.00pm 12 October at 11.00am or Listen on Demand via 5mbs.com

Joon-Yee Kwok, Artistic and Executive Producer of the OzAsia Festival 2024 came into the studio to talk about some of the highlights of this year’s festival. There is a very comprehensive program of theatre, dance, music and art so you need to check the official program.

Joon did mention  Por Por’s Big Fat Surprise Wedding, Score in Silence and Passage to Bollywood as some of the ‘must see’ shows but there is plenty more, some of free.Especially for the younger audience  The Story of Chi is also highly recommended

.

Nicholas Braithwaite was along to talk about  the music scene in Adelaide, how young people can be helped and encouraged and some wonderful stories from his own career as an international conductor, who is now involved with our own orchestras, from the ASO to AdYO.

Something Special

A reminder that Oliver Fartach-Naini and Eva Schaud will be giving a concert on 13 October 3.30pm in Elder Hall featuring the harpsichord and guitar. Both are acclaimed musicians and this recital of Baroque music is a rare chance to hear them together.
