Kaleidoscope is an Arts Magazine. This program is one of the ways that 5mbs links our station to the wider music community as well as looking further afield, from time to time, at local drama, art and literature. It is an important link to the wider listening audience as we talk with some very interesting people about what interests them most.

LOCAL HERO SERIES
For the next six weeks we are featuring some of our distinguished musicians,
Dr Robert Nairn Double Bass and Baroque musician is the hero for this week.
He has a CV as long as your arm; he can play Jazz, Historical Period Music on the Violone, and Double bass in a modern orchestra.
He has commissioned and recorded new works, and also recorded music which goes back centuries.
He has been a Distinguished Professor at Pennsylvania State University, and taught at the Julilard NY.
Robert Nairn’s music reflects all these facets of his musical career.
