Kaleidoscope is one of the ways by which 5mbs links our station to the wider music community as well as looking further afield, from time to time, at local drama, art and literature. It is an important link to the wider listening audience as I talk with some very interesting people about what involves  them most.

It is broadcast on  Wednesday 6.pm or Saturday 11am. In your own time you can access it through Listen on Demand via 5mbs.com.

The program is broadcast on Wednesday 17 September 6.00pm and Saturday 20 September 11.00am

You will meet: Edith Salzman, Alexandra Frost, Sophie Carmody and Ryan Murphy

Sophie Carmody and Ryan Murphy are performing in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. This production is presented by the 2025 Graduating Class of Elder Conservatorium  Music Theatre.

In their interview they give you something of the plot, but not enough to be a spoiler, some of the music and you can learn about how they have trained over the last three years to be ready for the professional stage.

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is at the Scott Theatre, Kintore Avenue,

October 2  7.30pm and October 5 at4.30.pm

Tickets can be bought through Elder Conservatorium website.

Alexandra Frost sings blues and jazz in venues around Adelaide, sometimes with a pianist and at other times with a seven piece band. She is also a very successful Adelaide Fringe artist.

You can hear her at Live in Ginger,  Ginger Vintage Cafe in Goodwood on 27 September and again on 29 November.

Edith Salzman is an international cellist who has performed and recorded in Europe. She has left the cold and rain of Europe initially for the warmth and sunshine in New Zealand, and then to South Australia where she lectures  in cello at the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide.

One of her big interests  is discovering music from the past and recording it so that hidden gems are brought into the sunshine for us to enjoy.

Edith is also a member of Ensemble Lumen who will be performing on 24 October 7.00pm in Elder Hall.
