Kaleidoscope is an Arts magazine program which brings the creative and theatrical world to 5mbs listeners, through interviews and music. Together with Arts Diary it is our link to local events and personalities.

Quentin (Quincy) Grant is a composer whose work is closely associated  with Adelaide theatre. For the 2026 Adelaide Festival of Arts he has composed music for the Slingsby production The Compendium of Wonder. This is a triptych adaption of three fairy tales, performed on a theatre set up in the Botanic Gardens.  The musicians who have recorded the music are top class, including Michael Ierace Tom Marlin, Jonathan Bligh, Belinda Gehlert, Emma Gregan , Quincy- and the list goes on.

Tim Barton is from Chicago, and he has performed at the Adelaide Fringe for a number of years. In his shows he concentrates on Jazz, Blues, some classical – all music that sets the heart racing and the feet tapping. For some shows he is joined by two local jazz musicans The Jazz Masters’ was formed by Tim Barton in 2018 to play with the great talent in Adelaide. He has a number of shows and venues and the easiest way to find them and book is through the Festival Fringe web site.

Simon Lord is the Director of Artistic Planning at the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. As such he is the ideal man to speak to Kaleidoscope about some of the highlights of the ASO 2026 season. This year is the 90th anniversary of the ASO and it has chosen to demonstrate its versatility and musicianship over a wide range of programs. Check the ASO website for the full list.
