Kaleidoscope is an Arts magazine program which brings the creative and theatrical world to 5mbs listeners, through interviews and music. Together with Arts Diary it is our link to local events and personalities.

Jonathan Bligh talks about a special afternoon of choral music with the world renowned Gesauldo Six, the award-winning Festival Statesmen and St Peter’s Cathedral Choir.

At St Peter’s Cathedral, 27 June 3.00pm. (note changed time  from the evening, due to football being played at night at the Oval) .

Mark Taylor is launching the first phase of Our Opera Your Story. People are invited to suggest a real story which could eventually become an opera to be professionally produced. The closing date to submit stories is 19 June. Four original 20 minute micro-operas will be brought to life by a librettist and composer, to be performed in October 2027.

Elizabeth McCall, Director of Chamber Music Adelaide is in the studio to invite interest from local musicians to compose a new work which will be performed during this years 

On the Terrace

• Submissions involving cultural material outside the applicant’s heritage (including

Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, or other Indigenous content) must be prepared to include

written permissions from appropriate communities on request

• Composers must be available for consultation and publicity as part of the program

Timeline

• EOI close: 23 June 2026

• Successful applicant advised: 30 June 2026

• Compositional period: July to mid October 2026

• Completed pieces due: 15 October 2026

  • World premiere: 1 November 2026

Christie Anderson is the Artistic Director of Adelaide Chamber Singers. She give details about a concert, WILD, in which fourteen singers from ACS are performing folk songs that  carry the stories of people across time and continents; some well known, and some less so.  You can hear these songs at Ayers House on Friday 19 June at 6.00pm and then again at 8.00pm and on Sunday 21 June 2.30pm.
