Kaleidoscope Arts magazine

Kaleidoscope is an Arts Magazine program designed to bring the music, drama and literature  in the Adelaide community, and from wider afield, to our listeners.  It is produced and presented by Emily Sutherland and can be heard each Wednesday at 6.00pm with a repeat on Saturday 11.00am. or Listen on Demand to Kaleidoscope by accessing 5mbs.com  

The United Ukrainian Ballet company is coming to Adelaide and I had the chance to speak to Oleskii  Knyazkov, the lead dancer on Kaleidoscope. He’s joined by David Mealor, theatre director, Keith Crellin OAM, Director of Adelaide Youth Orchestra, and Alex Roose, singer and conductor. 

Oleskii dances the lead in Swan lake

The United Ukrainian Ballet company will dance Swan Lake at Festival Theatre November 9-12 with music by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. This tour has been made possible through the generous support of a number of benefactors including the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Amare Cultural Precinct and SENF Partners. A portion of each ticket sold on the Australian tour will be donated to The United Ukrainian Ballet Foundation.

Flying Penguin Productions are presenting OLEANNA, a play by David Mamet. It’s  subject matter is up to the minute, as Director David Mealor explains in his interview. Music is by Quentin Grant.

Adelaide Youth Orchestra’s  End of Year Celebration

On Sunday 20 November,  there will be two separate concerts by the music groups of the ADYO with their various conductors and tutors.  The first  concert is at 12pm and the second at 5.00pm.

Keith Crellin will conduct the Senior Orchestra in the evening concert, and he talks about the music chosen.

For lovers of Brahms’ music this concert is a must. Alex Roose will conduct Brahms Requiem, with a selected choir, and two piano accompaniment, while opening the program singing some Brahms Lieder with Nerissa Pierce at the piano. This concert is a fund raiser for Alex Roose who will be having a kidney transplant, and therefore will be not able to work for three months. Being a freelance musician he has has no sick leave.
