In this week’s program we’re about to step back into time, as Gillian Dooley talks about her latest book based on the life and achievements of Matthew Flinders.
Max and George reveal some of the satirical swipes the swinging sixties exposed in Loot by Joe Orton, a play which shocked London in the 1960s. Catch the Adelaide Repertory production and judge for yourselves.
Gillian Dooley
Gillian Dooley’s long relationship with explorer, Matthew Flinders, has resulted in a magnificent book, replete with diagrams and pictures. Thoroughly researched, but still allowing the personality of this British officer and gentleman to come alive.
Max and George, both studying at Adelaide University have succumbed to the pure of the footlights. Both are appearing in LOOT in the Arts Theatre. The play was written long before either of them were born, so they bring a fresh interpretation to the life of the playwright, Joe Orton, and his play, which has been describe as a ‘comedy of horrors’.
Produced by the Adelaide Repertory in The Arts Theatre, 7-9 and 20-23 April at 7.30pm. Book tickets at adelaiderep.com
