Phillip Virgo is Deputy Chair of the 5mbs Board, as well as being a presenter of classical music.

I have been a classical presenter at 5mbs since 2014, and present a variety of programs including Prelude, Cantabile, Sounds Classical, Local Concert, In the Spotlight, Chamber Music, Nocturne and Australian Musicians.

Creating programs is very enjoyable, as is the process of learning every day from the process of researching the music I decide to present.

Favourite composers include all the greats, particularly Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart, Bruckner, Mahler, Verdi, and Puccini. I enjoy all forms of fine music but probably Chamber Music is my favourite listening experience.

Previous roles include banker, literary editor (including editing the Adelaide Review for 15 years), marketing manager and financial controller in the Law.

In addition, I have been active in the local arts scene for 40 years, in such areas as theatre, opera, and the visual arts as Manager of the Adelaide Central School of Art for 5 years.
