2024 is the 50th anniversary year of the Marie Clark Musical Theatre Company (formerly Marie Clark Singers). They’re planning a celebratory production of that foot-tapping music, the Music Man, which will be in the Arts Theatre in July. Director Adam Goodburn is along to tell us all about the production and whet our appetites.

If you’ve not yet heard of the composer Ben Betelli, remember the name. Ben is a composition student at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. He’s already won many prizes, including first prize for the ASME young composer awards three years running (2008 – 2010) and has had one of his string quartets recorded by the Australia String Quartet.
Ben talks to us about his approach to composition, his achievements so far and what’s on the horizon.
We even sneak in a snippet of one of his orchestral works which hasn’t yet been heard – the premier will be next year with the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

Luke Jones is along to tell us about his toy collection which is on view at the Roche Foundation, North Adelaide, until the 24th August. If you thought toys were just child’s play, you’d be right, of course, but there’s a lot more to be learned from a toy collection than you might think.
