If you were asked to revisit your life as a  teenager what memories would that evoke? Kay, in the process of clearing out her room, finds a diary she had kept over those years. A diary, in which she wrote of her plans for her life, friends, ‘hot’ boys and media heroes, and the Spice Girls.

Prompted by the memories stored in this little book, she tells stories about those years, and the years that followed. As a singer and song writer she also tells part of her her stories in song, cleverly weaving them into the narrative. They are witty, at times plaintive, and guaranteed to strike a chord in the heart of any person who has ever been a teenager.

Looking back to the past leads to reflection about the present. Lessons have been learned, and as she packs up the last of her dresses and decides t keep her ‘first ever’ guitar, Kay comes to the conclusion that she is her own person and that is not such a bad thing to be.

Dear Diary is nostalgic, witty and thought provoking. There is a skilful use of props as she touches on early friendships, early loves, body image doubts and rejection. Kate is a gifted story-teller with a lovely voice and excellent diction. This makes for a most enjoyable hour.
