Three young musicians and one somewhat older grace Kaleidoscope this week. Shows that age is no barrier when it comes to creating beautiful music.
Four’s Company
Four members of the Corinthian Singers have formed a vocal quartet to perform music ranging from classical works through popular works to jazz. Steve Donovan was along to tell us all about it.
Their debut concert is at St Andrew’s Church , Strathalbyn on 23 October at 2.00pm with proceeds going towards repairs for the church. You can hear Four’s Company, Nicola Hardy-Beveridge, Danii Zappia, Steve Donovan and Matthew Atherton in a concert they have called Harmony.
Tickets $25 through try booking.com or at the door.
Contestants in the 5mbsYoung Virtuoso Awards 2022
Nicky Poznak plays the piano so well that she has First Class Honours in Music from Elder Conservatorium and has won numerous scholarships. You could say it’s in her genes as both her parents are also musicians.
Philippa McAuliffe wanted to learn the harp as a very young child. Instead her mother bought her a piano, but Philippa had not given up her dream. Now she plays both piano and harp to an extremely high level.
Connor Whyte is still in the final year of his music degree, but he distinguished himself this year by winning the Adelaide International Guitar Festival Award, which means he will play a full concert at the Guitar Festival next year.
You can hear these young musicians plus five other talented contestants at St John’s Anglican Church, Halifax Street, on Sunday October 23 at 2.30pm. Tickets at trybooking.com/CCZUP
