Kaleidoscope Arts Magazine

From Rolling Thunder Vietnam a rock musical, to the Coriole Music Festival which is not a rock musical, via one of the leading singers in Verdi’s Macbeth and  Musica Viva’s All About the Birds and the Trees, it’s a great journey on Kaleidoscope this week.

Coming to Adelaide in May,  is an event described as ‘a musical and dramatic experience’, The Director of Rolling Thunder Vietnam, David Berthold, talks about this production, of which, he states, he is immensely proud. It’s based on interviews with hundreds of Vietnam Vets as well as hits from the 60s and 70s and recreates an important part of our history in a very human way.

Macbeth, the Opera by Verdi, is coming to Adelaide in September, directed by Stuart Maunder. Pelham Andrews sings the role of Banquo, and even thought he is killed in the first act, he does reappear as a ghost. Pelham is looking forward to working with Jose Carbó as Macbeth and Kate Ladner as Lady Macbeth. Macbeth opens September 7-16 September at Her Majesty’s Theatre, and tickets are already on sale. Adam Walker, Flute, is one third of a talented trio coming to Adelaide  as part of the Musca Viva Season. At Adelaide Town Hall, 26 April, 7.30pm 

The other two are Annaleen Lenaerts, Harp

and Timothy Ridout  Viola

Their concert is called About the Birds and the Trees, and with harp, flute and viola you can imagine the beautiful music they will play, including Debussy, Telemann and Gubaidulina..

Simon Cobcroft Cellist

Coriole Festival is a weekend at the Coriole Winery, McLaren Vale of great music and fantastic food. Simon Cobcroft is the Musical Director for this year and he has chosen music which features both established and loved composers together with some newer voices. 

The Lyrebird Trio, plus some of the top musicians from Adelaide and interstate will be playing.
