Kaleidoscope Arts Magazine

Kaleidoscope is an Arts Magazine program designed to bring the music, drama and literature in the Adelaide community, and from wider afield, to listeners.  It is produced and presented by Emily Sutherland and can be heard each Wednesday at 6.00pm with a repeat on Saturday 11.00am. or Listen on Demand to Kaleidoscope by accessing 5mbs.com  then click Listen on Demand then Kaleidoscope.

So much information and music in this week’s program that it is, indeed, a kaleidoscope.

* Musica Viva and Chopin’s Piano meets Sandy Burnett who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of music.

*An original composition by James Rawley, who joins his friend Caleb Lavery-Brook, to play for us on their guitars.

*The LAB reveals some of the delights in store during Illuminate Adelaide, as well as urging creative artists to pitch their ideas for a performance there.

*Something for everyone.

Aura Go, pianist, joins Jennifer Vuletic, actor in a presentation of Chopin’s Piano, a performance that will bring the book of that name by Paul Kildea to life. As part of the Musica Viva season, it promises to be an amazing night, as Aura describes.

Sandy Burnett is an international broadcaster, musician and evangelist for music who will be visiting Adelaide in July to talk about two composers and about jazz. Three lectures in all, under the auspices of Australian Decorative and Fine Arts (ADFAS). 

Monday July 24  The Age of Jazz at The Gospel Centre, 2 George Main Road, Victor Harbour 10.30am

Wednesday July 26   Shaken by an Earthquake, Igor Stravinsky, The Ballet Russes and the 1913 Premiere of the Rite of Spring.

ThursdayJuly 27  From Preludes to Passions: Johan Sebastian Bach’s Music and its timeless appeal.

The venues and times for both of these two lectures will be at 10.30am in St Andrews Church, 43 Church Terrace, Walkerville and again at 7.30pm in the Burnside Uniting Church 384 Portrush Road, Tusmore

Caleb Lavery-Brook and James Rawley. guitarists, talk about their upcoming tour to South Korea, and while they are in the studio they play a composition by James. They will play this composition in Korea, as well as being part of a larger group from the Elder Conservatorium. Both Caleb and James are now graduated with Masters of Philosophy in Music.

Nic Mercer is the Chief Executive Officer – Light ADL. As such he has all the good oil on their programs, and good advice for musicians and creative artists wishing to present their work at the LAB which is an immersive performing venue. Some great events as part of Illuminate Adelaide previewed.
