This week Shakespeare in Love presented by Independent Theatre is the Company’s last play for the year and Director Rob Croser talks about why he chose it for the season’s finale.

Violist Christopher Cartlidge speaks with great enthusiasm about the Australian String Quartet’s 2024 program. They have a lot planned.

Mary Fiona wraps up the Young Virtuosi awards for this year, and talks about how important it is for musicians to advance their musical knowledge and experience by studying overseas. She speaks from her own time as a cellist studying in both London and Germany.

Rob Closer describes Shakespeare in Love as a very funny, clever play which you can enjoy even if you have never heard of Shakespeare. It helps you have! There is music as well as there was in Shakespeare’s time.

The Australian String Quartet will begin the year at the Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale, and invitation to which is a huge honour. It’s all go from then on both in Australia and overseas. Their viola player, Christopher Cartlidge talks about some of the music programmed for 2024 but you can  find out even more by going to asq.com.au 

Mary Fiona and I swap places  in the studio so she can talk about the YVA Awards 2023 which concluded with the National competition in Brisbane. At 5mbs we strive to encourage and support young musicians. Mary Fiona understands, through her own experience as a cellist, the importance of living and studying for a time overseas.
