There are some exciting programs in the Elder Hall Friday Lunchtime series. I talk to Michael Ierace about two of them.

State Theatre Company and State Opera South Australia are combining to present Candide inMay (23-25) at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Michael Ierace is a much sought after pianist as a solo performer, ensemble player, collaborative pianist, arranger and teacher. He is playing music by Resphigi, Greig and Debussy at Elder Hall on 12 April 1.10pm and on 3 May he is joined by Kate Suthers, Stephen King and Thomas Marlin to play the Piano Quartet in A opus 26  at Elder Hall 1.10pm.

I had planned to speak with Anthony Hunt who is the Musical Director of Candide, among his many other positions. Unfortunately he was not able to come to the studio because he had temporarily lost hs voice, and that is one excuse we can not refuse to accept! However I was able to play some of the music from this satiric opera, based on a novel by Voltaire.

Candide opens in Her Majesty’s Theatre on 23 May and goes to 25 May, with a matinee and evening performance on the last day.
