I’ve been presenting at 5MBS since December 2023. Mostly I’ve been presenting daytime classical programs (Prelude, Cantabile, Sounds Classical), and of course On Wings of Song. I’ve recently been exploring pre-recorded programs such as Local Concert, so I hope I can do a few more programs.

Until I retired in 2000, I was a professional opera singer for 25 years, including 12 years with the State Opera of SA, followed by 12 years as a resident principal with Opera Australia. And my wife is a singer and teacher.

After I retired as a singer, I had the opportunity to do a PhD at the University of Newcastle, based on my experiences in opera. I graduated in 2006, so now everyone can call me The Doc.

I also wanted to explore radio presentation and take the opportunity to share what knowledge I have – and to learn more!

I love finding music to share – and since I’ve started with 5MBS, I’ve discovered many more wonderful composers. In addition, there are technical challenges to do with being a presenter that I haven’t yet mastered.

I specially love composers whose names begin with letters of the alphabet between A and Z.

When not at 5MBS, I sing at church, and I like cycling and travelling.
